The British Interplanetary Society, in conjunction with the Arthur C. Clarke foundation, have been organising the UK version of the Arthurs for nearly 20 years. SSTL has a long history with these Awards stretching back to 2008 when Sir Martin Sweeting was on the receiving end, perhaps prematurely considering his continuing active presence in the Space Industry, of a lifetime achievement award.

Sir Martin Sweeting – SSTL Chairman said, “I am absolutely delighted to see Andrew honoured with an ‘Arthur’. Next year is SSTL’s 40th Birthday and Andrew has been with us for more than half of our history. Having watched him grow from a young and capable engineer into the excellent leader he is today, I am very proud he has been recognised by the British Interplanetary Society at this year’s Sir Arthur Clarke Awards.”

Andrew Greenhalgh – SSTL Head of Marketing said, “These awards are a great boost for the UK Space Industry and much thanks and recognition should go to the British Interplanetary Society, in particular Events Committee Chair Alistair Scott, for their continued dedication in organising the ‘Arthurs.’”
