Tue, 17 Sep 2024 Supporting the next generation of employees is something we take seriously at SSTL. And this summer we were thrilled to welcome 42 work experience students into our business. The students – ranging in ages from 15 to 21 - embarked on either a week-long formal programme, a few days hands-on experience, an open day and even an 8-week summer placement. The agenda was packed and varied and we were really encouraged to see so much talent and enthusiasm from our visitors.



As well as being capably hosted by our HR and Outreach staff and interacting with our engineers, the students could also hear from our Managing Director, Andrew Cawthorne, in main pic above. Some of them also met our Chairman and Founder Sir Martin Sweeting – pic below – who was happy to discuss his journey through academia and a long and stellar career in the space industry.



Giving young people the opportunity to gain real-life work experience helps build the skills and confidence to shape their future careers, and we are proud to play a part in their journey. Thank you to the students and staff who made this summer a success. It was a privilege to have been able to do our bit to inspire a future generation of space professionals.. and we look forward to keeping in touch and seeing them flourish in the future.
