Wed, 15 Jan 2025 As we mark our 40th anniversary, we’re reminded of the visionaries, innovators, and steadfast contributors who have made our success possible. None more so than Tim Setterfield, one of only two original employees still with us, and a cornerstone of our history. Tim’s University of Surrey journey began in Sept 1983 before moving from early 1984 to the UoSAT unit, working on the build of UoSAT-2.

Firmly insitu before SSTL was formed in 1985, Tim has worked across Procurement, HR, Mechanical Engineering and Production over the past four decades and now runs our Composites Manufacturing Facility in Bordon.

Reflecting on his time here, Tim shares: “I can’t believe these 40 years have gone by so fast, nor what we have managed to achieve over the years. People often ask why I have only worked for one company my whole career, and I always answer by saying: what could be any more exciting than working for a company that makes satellites and launches them into space!” Well said, Tim, and many thanks. 😊
